2010 Week 23

June 16, 2010

I’m a little late in posting this – but for good reason.  I’ve been having some adventures in funemployment with momma bear, sister, cousin, and the poison ivy queen!  (More pictures/stories on that to follow at a later date).

I thought I’d post just a few pictures of our visit with our super-cute niece and nephew (I have a million of them to share at a later date!).  We had so much fun with them and their parents.  The kids just get cuter and more fun as they grow, and both Jason and I were impressed by how quickly the kids warmed up to us and the dogs.  Especially the dogs.  Jezebel was crazy about the kids and was constantly watching them – the kids figured out early on that our couches were safe from doggy attacks, but finally got brave enough to hold out fingers and toes for the dogs to lick.  By the end of the weekend, Lucy was actually leaning over to kiss Jezebel on the nose.

Our visit included a trip to the farmer’s market for locally-grown dinner, bubble-blowing, balloons that flew high into the sky, lawn bowling, and frog spotting.  And I can’t forget my cake making episode, complete with toddler assistants (complete with sugar spill and accompanying eating of said sugar by the toddler assistants… a secret ploy to become the kids favorite aunt?  Perhaps.).

On Sunday, we headed to the lake Michigan shore where the kids played in the water and we treated ourselves to ice cream from a nearby stand.  It was a little cold, but the kids didn’t seem to mind.  At least, not until both of their little teeth were chattering.  (Although, truthfully, I think they would have continued to play in the water for much longer than we let them – even with their little teeth chattering!)

All in all, It was a pretty spectacular weekend, filled with kiddie giggles and awesome adult conversation.

Speaking of spectacular… I wish you were all here to see the view from my chair as I blog.  It’s amazing.  More on that later!

    Can’t wait to hear more!
PS. So glad you had fun with the gang. I’m sure they did as well.
