2010 Week 11

March 19, 2010

The weather here has been A.MAZ.ING.  Hello 60s and sunny!  Please make yourself comfortable!

It’s definitely one of those weeks when the weather is keeping me sane.  I’ve opted to work from home this week, and because the dogs are happy to play sleep in the sun all afternoon, I’m actually getting some lectures written.  Hurrah!

The little one has been especially tired out this week, and I think it’s because she’s spending her days torn between her two favorite activities: chewing on sticks and sitting on the driveway admiring any cars that drive by, like so:

She’s very lucky, because there are a lot of sticks to choose from.  And by that, I mean, we had some trees removed last fall and there is brush EVERYWHERE.  Apparently, when the foresters said, “we take everything with us because we can use or sell it all – including the tree tops.  We make crates from the tree tops.” they actually MEANT, “We’re taking only the big stuff and leaving you with the mess.” Silly me, I should have read between the lines.

If anyone wants firewood, you’re welcome to come and cut your own.

And, if the tree branches scattered everywhere weren’t enough of a mess, the 5′ retaining wall around our house toppled during the spring thaw.  And now we will spend the next 2 weeks debating whether we want to DIY this one or hire it out.  Sigh.

Because the weather has been so nice, we’ve been trying to get some spring cleanup going on outside… which means the inside of the house is a disaster.

And I’d probably be a lot crabbier about it if it weren’t for these:

They’re not much to look at now, but they’ll be daffodils when the time is right.  This is good news because it means I haven’t killed ALL of the plants in the yard yet.  Keep your fingers crossed that the rest of the flowers in the backyard emerge when their time comes.

And these little crocuses are just about to bloom.  Smile.

Hope you guys had wonderful wall-collapse-less weeks!  It’s supposed to rain this weekend, which should give us a chance to work on the bathroom a bit more.  What are your plans for the weekend?

      Thanks, April!

I’m currently using a Canon Rebel w/either a kit lens or the 55-200mm lens that I borrowed from my mom. I’m hoping to get a 50mm lens soon!!

I know!!! The weather has been delightful! We have been skipping the gym and walking outside. Yesterday, we had the windows open! Don’t ya just love the mess that is left behind after the snow is gone?

I can’t believe your wall fell! Definitely jealous of your budding plants. I don’t think it’s quite warm enough in Maine for that yet. But I would have to have plants growing in my yard to know…

I was ready to post something very similar… has been so refreshing to be outside. But as I type we now have 4 inches of snow. Good luck on deciding on the wall, what a bummer!

Went to a surprise 40th that turned out to not be much of a surprise.

Did our MINI Cooper clubs monthly “Wheels to Meals” get-together where one person from the club picks a restaurant in their area and we all show up and have dinner together. Later went to one of the club members houses for drinks and snacks.

In-Laws flew in from France for a 3 week visit with us – in the middle of the “voyage”, we’re headed to New Orleans for a week; F-I-L’s choice of cities to visit this time.
