We’ve been pretty busy with fun family activities the past two weekends.
Jason’s brother, sister-in-law, and their adorable children came to visit us! We were so psyched for their visit – especially because at 2 and 1, Peter and Lucy change so much every time we see them!
We had so much fun – we all went to a nearby farm to pick out pumpkins, and eat donuts and cider. Afterwards, we brought the pumpkins home and carved them. It was a perfect fall day, even if it was a bit chilly.
The kids were a little hesitant around the dogs initially (understandably so, since Barley is a bit bigger than them!), but warmed up nicely. By the end of the weekend, Peter and Lucy were brushing the dogs teeth and giving them treats. We all took the dogs to a nearby dog-friendly park and hiked. I’m pretty sure the dogs had an even better time than the kids did.
Also? It was really nice just to chat with Kevin and Amy. Jason and his brother have always gotten along nicely, and it’s fun that Amy and I can add to the mix.
This past weekend, I headed to Milwaukee to run a photobooth on Friday and Saturday for Picture This! Photobooths. It is a pretty fun job. The set up and take down is a bear, but once the event starts and the guests are enjoying themselves, it’s all worth it. I loved having a photobooth at my wedding – in fact, one of our favorite mementos from the day is our guestbook, plastered with awesome photobooth images (some of the photos on the Picture This! website are actually from my wedding, so feel free to click over and check them out!). It’s so fun to see other people having so much fun with the booth.
My mom and sister and I went birthday shopping. Again, it’s so fun to be with family and to spend an entire day having fun together. My sister and I never really got along when we were growing up (read: we fought like crazy), so it’s nice to be all grown up and actually enjoying each other’s company.
The dogs had fun playing with my brother’s dog, Comet, who is a puggle. I (unfortunately) didn’t take pictures, but envision 3 identical-looking dogs in small, medium, and large sizes, and you’ve got a pretty good mental image of what happened.
On the way back to Michigan Tuesday night, the dogs and I took a detour to meet Jason in Chicago, where he was staying for a conference. The dogs were really good in the hotel room (thank goodness!), and Wednesday morning we woke up early to walk the dogs around Grant Park. We also managed to sneak a picture in the reflective bean in Millennium Park before getting kicked out (dogs weren’t allowed in the park – oops!).
We’re looking forward to a third weekend of family fun this weekend, when brother Robby comes to deliver last year’s Christmas present (my poor college kid brother gave us the gift of manual labor and he is going to be sorry we are so grateful for the help). So we’ll be back with more house updates next week ~ have a great weekend!
