our first overnighter

August 20, 2009

My mom, grandma, and brother Trevor made an impromptu trip to Michigan on Tuesday.  We had a lovely little cook out and ate dinner on the patio, followed by s’mores.  Mmm.

We somehow managed to convince Trevor to hang out with us for the night, and he said that it was “an honor” to be our first overnight guest in our new house.  Isn’t that cute?  Then, we played 52 rounds of Texas Hold Em.  This was before it was decided that Barley also needed to play poker.  Then, we played 25 more rounds.

Barley is an aggressive gambler… even though it looks like he’s up by a lot in this photo, his fortune was nearly gone 4 rounds later.

Trevor got to sleep in our (soon to be?) luxurious guest quarters – a large, sunny yellow bedroom that is (for now) sparsely furnished (but at least I’ve unpacked and removed boxes from this room?).

The quilt made by my mom, grandma, and aunt for my wedding shower is the show stealer here.  Although, if you stay over, I’d remove it from the bed before you could drool on it in your sleep.  I’m a little over-protective of it.

Speaking of the bed, Trevor gives it his stamp of approval, noting that it’s “very comfortable”.  So, you know, if any of you want to make reservations at our little B&B here in the country, we’ve got a comfy guest bed, a newly-remodeled bathroom, and an endless supply of Cheerios.

I know. And after that, we switched to blackjack. I think that son of yours might develop a gambling problem if he’s not careful!
